Love songs

Practically everyone listens to music, and time and time again, there will be songs on the radio or an iPod that remind you of something or someone. My Question is, why do people dedicate songs to a special someone or a special occasion? If things were to go down hill with anything, those songs that we dedicated will only hurt us in the end. I've done it before, i can't even tell you how many songs i've dedicated to friends and family, and to even boys i've had strong feelings for. So why do we do it? Is it because we have trouble finding those perfect, "exactly how i feel" lyrics in the songs? No one knows, but in the end it only hurts. Sure it may make things better eventually but people dont understand that when you dedicate a song to something or someone, it means they care, that they're putting their emotions into whatever it is their dedicating the song to. I hope im not the only one that is actually understanding this. Who knows why we do it, but all i know is that, even though dedicating song will hurt in the end, i know that im going to continue doing it. but thats just me.
